We are delighted to confirm our Guest Speakers, Dr Susan Liddy (Lecturer in the Department of Media and Communication Studies at MIC, Limerick, and Chair of Women in Film and Television Ireland), Dr Loretta Goff (Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Film and Screen Media at University College Cork), and Mr Anthony Muldoon, on behalf of Screen Producers Ireland.
Dr Susan Liddy lectures in the Department of Media and Communication Studies in MIC, Limerick. Her research interests and publications relate to gender and Irish film; the Irish and international film industry; motherhood and the film industry and representations of women and ageing in film and television. Her edited collection Women in Irish Film: Stories and Storytellers is to be published in February 2020 by Cork University Press. Later in 2020 another book on gender equality and the international film industry will follow: Women in the International Film Industry: Policy, Practice and Power will be published by Palgrave Macmillan. She is chair of Women in Film and Television Ireland (WFT) and chair of the Equality Action Committee (EAC) representing the Writers Guild of Ireland (WGI) and the Screen Directors’ Guild of Ireland (SDGI) on matters of equality. She is active in the promotion of women in the Irish film industry and has organized, participated in and moderated many public debates about gender equality across the country.
Dr Loretta Goff recently completed her PhD in Film and Screen Media at University College Cork. Loretta is an Editorial Board member of Alphaville: Journal of Film and Screen Media and her writing has been published in Persona Studies, Alphaville, Estudios Irlandeses, The Irish Journal of Gothic and Horror Studies and Film Ireland. Her research interests principally focus on film and identity, genre, stardom and contemporary representations of Irish America.
